Lahore: Chairman PCB Management Committee Zakaa Ashraf says that the decision regarding changes in the captain and coaching staff will be made after the World Cup. They will evaluate performance in the World Cup before making a decision. His decision hints that if Babar Azam failed to perform in the World Cup he would certainly loss his captaincy.
Speaking on a private TV program, Chairman PCB Management Committee Zakaa Ashraf said he hopes the Pakistani team will perform well in the World Cup. The team arrived in India a few days ago, and it will take some time to get accustomed to the conditions.
Zakaa Ashraf mentioned that the team had some good players on rest during the warm-up matches, but teams that don't perform in practice matches often perform well. Pakistan has star players like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi.
He also mentioned that Mohammad Yousuf is a respected name in Pakistan cricket, but he didn't have the option to bring coaches to the team. Mickey Arthur was appointed during Najam Sethi's tenure, and removing him would have tarnished PCB's reputation.
Zakaa Ashraf stated that Mickey Arthur had promised to stay with the team during the World Cup, and any decision regarding changes in the captain and coaching staff would be made after the World Cup.
In response to a question, Chairman PCB Management Committee mentioned that he doesn't have any role in the central contracts, and players' performance determines their category. They will do what is best for Pakistan cricket.
