Pakistan’s Azhar Ali makes historic record

DUBAI - Pakistan’s star batsmen and former Captain Azhar Ali has become the eight test batsman from the country to reach 5000 test run.

Azhar Ali began the current Pakistan – Sri Lanka test with a tally of 4968 runs, a mere 32 away from his 5000th run.

He is currently not out on 40 and has joined the likes of Zaheer Abbas, Salim Malik and former skippers Misbah ul Haq, Inzimam ul Haq, Javed Minadad and Pakistan’s leading run scorer Younis Khan.

Only 62 players in the history of the game have ever managed to reach the major milestone.
