KABUL - The Afghanistan Ministry of Defense says the new drone centers will be built in Herat, Kandahar and Nangarhar provinces – rising the number of the centers to five, TOLO News has reported.

As airstrikes increase against anti-government armed groups, the Ministry of Defense says the command centers of ‘unmanned combat aerial vehicles’ will be increased across the country.

Defense Ministry spokesman Dawlat Waziri said the centers will be increased from two provinces at the moment to five hubs.

The new drone command centers will be built in Herat, Kandahar and Nangarhar provinces – while there are two others centers in in Helmand and Balkh provinces.

He said staff members for the new drone command centers are under training by the ministry.

The spokesman said Afghanistan now has access to intelligence drone aircrafts. However, he has not given details about number of these aircrafts.
