ISLAMABAD - Lahore High Court's retired Justice Mahmood Akhtar was shot dead in Chakwal today.
Police said Justice Mahmood Akhtar was returning to Chakwal after attending a namaz-e-janaza in his native village Turkwal, when unknown armed men opened fire on his car. He died on the spot, while his niece was critically injured.
Meanwhile, Information Minister Chaudhary Fawad Hussain has strongly condemned the killing of Justice (Retd) Chaudhary Mahmood Akhtar.
In a condolence message today, he said elements involved in the killing will be brought to book. He prayed that Almighty Allah bless the departed soul in eternal peace and give courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
