Pakistan releases 68 Indian prisoners as goodwill gesture

Foreign Office said these prisoners who are fishermen, were held for inadvertently crossing into Pakistani waters.

Pakistan has decided to release sixty eight Indian prisoners who will be repatriated via Wagha Border.

In a statement today [Monday], the Foreign Office said Pakistan has released the prisoners as a goodwill gesture on humanitarian grounds.

These prisoners who are fishermen, were held for inadvertently crossing into Pakistani waters.

Earlier, Pakistan also released two Indian civil prisoners on 13th of this month.

Pakistan has always maintained that humanitarian issues should be facilitated and not politicised.
