Interior Minister felt deceived at Cyril Almeida case

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan felt deceived at the departure of the Dawn correspondent Cyril Almaida who had left the country few days ago.

Chaudhry Nisar said he was assured by the representatives of Dawn that Almeida, who had gone abroad, would be available for questioning. "Else, the law will take its course," he added.

Earlier the name of Cyril Almeida was put on Exit Control List by the Interior Minister.

However the name was removed from the ECL by the Interior Minister when Dawn administration and the group of news papers association assured the Interior Minster that Cyril would join the investigations when and where required.

The issue of fake and planted Dawn story about the allegations of the support to the non state actors from civil to military has raised serious tensions between the government and the Pakistan Army.
