ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) summoned an officer of Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control in a case challenging ban on a Switzerland-based non-governmental organization (NGO).
The court sought a detailed report regarding the mechanism of imposing ban on NGOs and their funding.
Justice Aamer Farooq of the IHC, who heard the petition filed by the NGO challenging ban on it by the Ministry of Interior, also directed Deputy Attorney General Raja Khalid Mehmood to submit para-wise reply to the petition on behalf of the federation.
The petitioner’s counsel informed the bench that Friday would be the last day of government’s deadline for the NGO to end its operation in the country.
The judge asked about the objections raised by the government. Whether the same were related to its funding or way of work, he added.
