CPEC: Russia intends to join CPEC indirectly, quotes VOA

ISLAMABAD (APP): Professor Z A Hialali has said that Russia deems China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a positive development and it can incorporate in it anytime in future.

Talking to VOA, he said Pakistan and Russia is enjoying trade and military ties and they are vowing to expand the cooperation between the two countries especially at a time when the United States and India are in strong bond of friendship.
Commenting on a statement of Russia that it has not discussed Pakistan about incorporating in CPEC, he said it is a mere statement, in fact, Russian delegation has showed it's keen in CPEC and there was no informal discussion over the issue.
He said Russia has offered sophisticated technology to fight against war on terrorism and it also offered helicopters to Pakistan. "Russia is also constructing Karachi-Lahore gas pipeline. It also played vital role for unearthing natural resources in Pakistan amid cold war."

Z A Hialali said Russia is also witnessing rapid development of US ties with India and its role in region is necessary to contain the influence of the United States.
