PTI candidate suffers heart attack after ticket withdrawal at last moment

SIALKOT – A candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was hospitalized on Saturday after suffering a heart attack as the party withdrew his name for electoral tussle scheduled on 25 July.

Mian Abid Javed was awarded the PTI’s ticket to contest polls from PP-35, Sialkot, a decision which was later withdrawn by Imran Khan’s party for unexplained reasons.

When Javed came to know about the withdrawal of his candidacy, he suffered a heart attack.

The Sialkot politician was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was said to be out of danger now.

In an informal chat with media persons, the disheartened PTI leader said that his ticket was taken back despite his popularity in the constituency.

To a question, Javed ruled out a possibility of running as an independent candidate.

Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan of PTI will be contesting against Pakistan Muslim League-N’s Chaudhry Armughan Subhani, former MNA from NA-72, Sialkot-I.

In NA-73, Sialkot-II, PTI has fielded Usman Dar against PML-N’s Khwaja Muhammad Asif, five consecutive times winner from Sialkot city constituency.

Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas has been fielded by PTI in Pasrur city’s constituency NA-74, Sialkot-III, against PML-N’S Ali Zahid, son of former federal law minister Zahid Hamid.
