CM Sindh first order in office: Rangers Powers extended in Karachi

KARACHI: Rangers Powers in Karachi have been extended for a period of three months.

Previous notification for extension in Rangers powers in Karachi had expired few days ago and Rangers were awaiting the fresh extension orders from the provincial government in this regard.

New Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah on Saturday signed the summaries extending special powers of Rangers in the province.

Murad Ali Shah was sworn into office on Friday. Reportedly the decision to extend powers of the paramilitary force wide province was taken at a meeting summoned by Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari in Dubai meeting last week.

Extension of powers of Rangers presented a big challenge which widened the rift between security establishment and the province. Federal government however ensured the resolution of issue and extension of powers.
