Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal in hot waters

LAHORE – A contempt of court petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday against Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal.

The petitioner Muneer Ahmad through his lawyer Azhar Siddique filed a petition in the LHC stating that the federal minister used derogatory language against the judiciary hence his speech comes in contempt of court.

The petitioner contended that despite court orders, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) failed to stop broadcast of Ahsan Iqbal’s anti-judiciary speech.

He prayed the court to action against PEMRA chairman and Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal.
