NAB statistics reveal stunning performance during last one year

ISLAMABAD - National Accountability Bureau (NAB) – pursuing across-the-board accountability approach – has arrested 503 accused persons and recovered Rs. 2580 million from corrupt elements during one year.
The recovery, considered as record achievement, has been returned to hundreds of affected persons and some government departments. Not a single rupee has been paid to any NAB employee as Bureau’s officers and officials consider eradication of corruption as their national duty.
The statistics listing, the last one-year achievements on Thursday showed that the Bureau has opened its door for citizens for corruption related complaints and received 44,315 complaints which were thoroughly scrutinized in scrutiny committees.
On basis of prima facie evidence, 1713 complaints were converted into complaint verifications. The complaints were re-scrutinized and after both sides views, converted into 877 inquiries, subsequently 227 investigations were ungraded.
The Bureau during the period also convened various Executive Board Meetings in which various important decisions were taken. NAB filed 440 corruption references in various Accountability Courts during last one year.
More than 1209 corruption references in various Accountability Courts of the country are under trial. Besides being apex anti-corruption organization, the Bureau has now become a role model institution among South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) nations.
NAB is the only organization in Pakistan which has approximately exemplary conviction ratio. This is just because of proactive Anti-Corruption Strategy not only chalked out by Chairman NAB, Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal but also implemented across the board.
NAB is the only organization in Pakistan which has established more than 50,000 Character Building Societies (CBSs) in colleges and universities to aware the youth about ill-effect of corruption.
Moreover, owing to across the board actions, eradication of corruption has now become voice of whole nation. NABhas perfected its procedures and geared up to come up to expectations of nation for corruption-free country.
The Chairman has strongly believes that NAB is not for victimization against anyone. NAB has no affiliation with any party as its officers are only servants of the state. Their first and last affiliation is with State of Pakistan.
Due to hard work put in by all NAB officers and officials and feedback received from all segments of society, people are appreciating initiatives taken by present management of NAB.
The Bureau has also been rejuvenated and due to its proactive anti-corruption strategy by adopting “Accountability for All” NAB has become a vibrant and reputable organization.
Reports and surveys of different reputable national and international organizations like PILDAT, Mishal Pakistan, Transparency International and World Economic Forum have appreciated performance of NAB.
