ISLAMABAD - The age-old ‘Suri Jagek’ tradition practiced by the indigenous Kalash people, has been approved by UNESCO for inclusion in list of Intangible Cultural Heritage ICH this year.

The decision has made at the 13th Session of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Committee held in Mauritius.

Permanent Delegate of Pakistan to UNESCO Moin ul Haque, termed the adoption of the Suri Jagek tradition by UNESCO as an historical achievement.

He said that this achievement also reflects the priority of the current government to place culture at the heart of its development policy.
