CDWP approves seven major development projects worth Rs 36 billion  

ISLAMABAD: (APP) The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) here on Tuesday approved seven developmental projects worth Rs 36 billion including immunization of children against different diseases.

The CDWP meeting presided over by Minister for Planning, Development and Reform, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal also accorded approval to three position papers.

In the health sector, the CDWP approved immunization of children against different disease at a cost of Rs 8 billion in Sindh province.

Under the programme, the children will be administered vaccine to protect them from nine diseases.

Another programme worth Rs 6.6 billion would be launched in Khyber-Pakhtoonkhaw (KPK) to enhance resistance among the children against various diseases.

The CDWP also accorded approval to a similar health programme under which an immunization project would be started at a cost of Rs 7.3 billion to protect children from different diseases in Balochistan province.

A project for the construction of a children hospital worth Rs 519 million in Bahawalpur was approved.

Keeping in view the importance of Gwadar, the meeting approved a water supply project worth Rs 5071 million for meet the water requirements in future in Gwadar city.

In the power sector, a project setting up grid stations and transmission lines at a cost of Rs 8572 million was approved in the meeting.

The CDWP approved a project to establish a hospital waste disposal unit at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad.

The united to be equipped with latest technology would help disposed of the waste in an environment-friendly manner.

Senior officials of federal and provincial governments attended the meeting.
