Govt wants to hold elections in time for taking country forward: Javed Abbasi

ISLAMABAD:Senator of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz Javed Abbasi on Wednesday said the present government wanted to hold general elections in time for taking the country forward.

Conducting elections in time was the only way to continue the process of development in the country, he said while talking to a private news channel.

Respect should be given to mandate of any political party who gets majority in the elections through votes, he said.
It was the responsibility of the Election Commission of Pakistan to organize the elections in time, he said.
The Parliament had passed the constitutional amendment regarding delimitation process after census, and now it was the duty of the ECP to conduct free and fair elections in the country, he added.

Expressing his point of view regarding meeting of the prime minister with chief justice, he said chief executive or leader of the house could have meeting with any head of the national institution.

The former chief justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali paid visit to the committee of Senate and held discussion on provision of speedy justice, he added. APP/AFP
