PPP chairman announces party's manifesto

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People's Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has vowed to eliminate poverty and unemployment from the country after coming to power.

He was addressing the launching ceremony of the party's manifesto with the slogan "BB ka Wada Hai, Pakistan Bachana Hai" in Islamabad.

The PPP Chairman said his party's vision is prosperity of people and, if comes to power, it will launch a "Bhook Mittao programme."

He said food cards will be issued to deserving people to get free food from special stores.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said revolution in economy cannot be brought about without a revolution in agriculture sector.

He said farmers will be offered subsidy to increase national production and Benazir Kisan Card will be issued for the purpose. He said if water issue is not addressed, it will become serious. 

The PPP Chairman said parliament and other institutions will be strengthened and a harmony will be developed among state institutions.

He said the plan of merging FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be materialized at the earliest. He said the party will make efforts to creating a new province in southern Punjab. He said ban on student unions and trade unions will be lifted.

Speaking about his party's proposed foreign policy, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said they will follow a proactive foreign policy and engage with neighbors and global powers to improve bilateral relationship.

He said the gross human rights violations being committed against innocent people of occupied Kashmir by Indian occupation forces will be aptly highlighted in the world.

Unveiling his party's proposed health initiatives, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said ELAJ programme will be launched throughout the country to provide quality healthcare.

Dispensaries will be set up in urban areas and the programme of Lady Health Workers will be expanded.

He said a programme titled "Apni Galiyan Apna Ghar" will be launched to provide housing facility to people. 

The PPP Chairman said new dams will be constructed to overcome water scarcity and the drip irrigation system will be introduced at mass level to conserve water.

Replying to a question, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said accountability should be across the board instead of targeting politicians only. APP
