Pakistan to provide free wheat to relocated Refugee camps in Afghanistan 

ISLAMABAD: (APP) Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has granted extension in the stay of POR card holders Afghan refugees for a further period of six months only, till December 31, 2016.

The Prime Minister issued directive after seeing the 'Repatriation and Management Policy for Afghan Refugees', said PM Office media wing on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister directed that Ministries of Foreign Affairs and States & Frontier Regions Division would immediately engage the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and Government of Afghanistan for gradual relocation of refugee camps in Pakistan to Afghanistan.

"In order to facilitate relocation and as a gesture of continued goodwill, Pakistan shall commit provision of wheat for the relocated camps in Afghanistan for a period of three years, free of cost. Quantum of wheat shall be determined by a certified number of refugees returning from camps in Pakistan and authorized daily entitlement according to the standards of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)," it added.
