Agriculture Sector Loans: Rs. 700 billion allocated by government

SUKKUR: (APP) Government had issued instructions for special incentives for agriculture sector to improve financial condition of peasants, said Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Sikandar Hayat Bosan here.
He said that agriculture sector had been facing several challenges for the last three years due to remarkable reduction in prices of commodities at international market.
The cost of in-put was very much high in Pakistan and the country's farmers could not compete internationally.
Speaking in an event at Pir Jo Goth, Khairpur district on Thursday, he said that he had been working for last three years to lower cost of production in the agriculture sector to enable farmers to get handsome earning and to put the country on way to progress and prosperity.
He said that the government achieved many successes thus putting country on the way to prosperity.
The country, for example, he said, had been producing surplus wheat for the last three years, which could not be exported because of high cost of production.
However, the government was endvouring for its export, he added.
He further said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government always ensured record development projects in the country. People have immense confidence in leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, he added.
He stressed that the Sindh provincial government for spending more on the agriculture sector.
He said banks are being provided agricultural loans of Rs 700 billion and reduction in cost of production would surely improve living standard of growers.
