Gilgit-Baltistan Expressway: Rs. 45 billion allocated under PSDP

Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman says a 180 megawatts power generation project has been approved for Gilgit-Baltistan under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.    

Talking to PTV, he said Diamer Bhasha Dam has also been included in CPEC, which is one of the biggest projects of 4500 MW.  

The Chief Minister said Diamer Bhasha project will also connect Gilgit-Baltistan with national grid. He said Gilgit-Baltistan has great potential for power generation through hydel resources up to 60,000 MW.    

Hafeez-ur-Rehman said the federal government has provided forty-five billion rupees under Public Sector Development Program for construction of Express Way which will link Gilgit with Baltistan Region. The work has already been started on the project and will be completed within three years.    

He said another road of 400 kilometer will be constructed from Gilgit to Ghizer, Shandoor, Chitral, Dir and Peshawar.
