*KARACHI: The New Gwadar International Airport is expected to be completed within the period of three years.*
Sources privy to the matter told that the cost of the project was about Rs 40 billion. The airport is one of the major projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The airport is being built with the Chinese help, sources informed.
Secretary aviation will brief the Prime Minister Imran Khan as he visits the port city on Friday.
PM Imran Khan will visit Gwadar port, where he would be briefed on different development projects being executed under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a state-of-the-art oil refinery and the petrochemical complex.
The prime minister would arrive in Karachi on Friday evening to chair Karachi transformation committee meeting. The sources said that the premier would address a public meeting in Ghotki on March 30 and would hold meetings with the leaders of collation parties.
The Senate Standing Committee on Planning was informed on March 18 that ground-breaking of new Gwadar International Airport will be performed by the end of March.
Director General, Planning and Development Gwadar Port Authority, Munir Ahmed Jan, had recently said the Gwadar Port development would lead to generation of various employment opportunities for locals.
