AJK 1974 Interim Act Constitutional amendments on cards

MIRPUR (AJK): (APP) Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan on Monday held a meeting with Pakistan People's Party Azad Kashmir President Ch Latif Akbar and discussed with him matters relating to amendments in interim Act of 1974, Gilgit Baltistan constitutional rights, good governance in AJK and prevailing situation of human rights in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir Kashmir.
AJK Legislative Assembly Speaker Shah Ghulam Qadir, newly elected senior vice president PPP AJK Chaudhry Pervez Ashraf, Secretary General Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, Secretary Information Sardar Javed Ayub and Additional Chief Secretary AJK government Fahat Ali Mir were also present on the occasion.
The Prime Minister congratulated the newly elected office bearers of PPP Azad Kashmir and said for resolving national issues political leadership should stand united.
"We are not against the provision of rights to the people of Gilgit Baltistan, we want honourable solution to the problems of Gilgit Baltistan," he added.
He said they wanted a mechanism that the GB people could get constitutional rights without affecting the Kashmir Issue.
He said for empowering the AJK government amendments in the interim Act of 1974 were vital and a high level committee had been constituted by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, which had held its first meeting.
He said proposals would be presented to the federal government after completion of consultation process with political parties of AJK on Gilgit Baltistan's constitutional rights.
Meanwhile, the prime minister assured the journalists that all their issues would be resolved accordingly.
He said the grant for Press Foundation would be increased soon.
