Afghanistan responds over the new government in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD - The Afghan ambassador to Pakistan on Friday congratulated Imran Khan and his party on winning Wednesday’s general election.

Dr. Omar Zakhilwal tweeted: “Congrats to Imran Khan for election victory. I have developed a close friendship resulting from his consistently welcoming positions on Afghanistan.

While calling for Pakistan’s constructive role in bringing peace and stability to Afghanistan, he hoped the incoming government would strongly support Afghan refugees.

In his maiden address to the nation, Imran said Afghanistan had suffered the most in the war on terror and need peace. “If there is peace in Afghanistan, there will be peace in Pakistan.”
