Afghan Taliban kill 7 Army soldiers, take over military post

LASHKARGAH: Five Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were killed and two others wounded in a clash in Greshk district of southern Helmand province on Sunday, an official said.

A credible army source told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants stormed a security check-post in Daygan area of the district earlier today morning. Seven ANA personnel were killed and another wounded.

The source added the militants had overrun the post but was recaptured with the arrival reinforcement.

However, Abdul Qadeer Bahadurzai, spokesman for 215th Miwand Military Corps, verified the attack and said five soldiers had been killed and two others wounded.

He rejected the check-post was fallen to militants.

On the other hand, six insurgents were killed and two others wounded during an operation in Nad Ali and Marja districts.

Taliban <link> spokesman Qari Yousaf Ahmad confirmed the Greshk clash and claimed 11 ANA soldiers had been killed and the check-post was overran by their fighters.
