Chinese Defence Ministry responds over Pakistan India escalation

BEIJING: Chinese Defence Ministry’s Spokesperson Senior Col Ren Gaucheng Thursday hoped that India and Pakistan would exercise restraint, properly handle their outstanding issues through dialogue and coordination and prevent from further escalation.
“We have noticed the latest development between India and Pakistan and we are closely watching the situation,” he said during his monthly briefing while responding to a question in this regard.
He observed that India and Pakistan were two major countries in South Asia, adding, “A harmonious relations between the two countries serves the interests of the two countries as well as peace and stability and development in the region and the world.”
The spokesperson hoped that two sides could exercise restraint, properly handle related issues through dialogue and coordination and prevent from further escalation.
To another question, he said both Pakistan and India were friends of China and the Chinese side believed in that top priority of the two nations was to exercise restraint and resolve the issue through dialogue and coordination so as to prevent any further escalation of tension.
