ISLAMABAD: Director General ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor appeared in a TV interview and spoke at length about the military operations.
The military has said that the recently launched Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad is aimed at countering the ‘mischievous’ elements whether they exist within or outside the country.
“All the previous military operations – including Operation Zarb-e-Azb – had succeeded in achieving their objectives,” Major General Asif Ghafoor, the director general of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said in a television interview on Tuesday.
“The previous operations were primarily aimed at restoring the state’s writ in different areas and eliminating terrorists’ hideouts, but Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad aims at consolidating gains of the previous operations,” he said.
The ISPR chief said the ongoing operation sought to stop facilitators of terrorists inside the country and also included a de-weaponisation campaign but it had no timeline.
Maj Gen Ghafoor said the operation was not only collective operation of all the law enforcing and security agencies but an operation in which every Pakistan had to play a role. “And collectively we will stamp out ‘Fasaad (disorder)’ from the country,” he added.
