Lahore High Court moved against Sharif family

LAHORE: The decision in the Ittefaq Foundry case, in which the Sharif family was acquitted by the accountability court (AC) has been challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC).

The petition was filed by a citizen, Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi, in the LHC. He argued that though the Sharif family was exonerated by AC in the case, however the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman had not filed an appeal against the acquittal.

The petitioner stated that the NAB chairman had demonstrated malafide intent, by not filing an appeal against the Sharifs’ exoneration.

He claimed that the Sharif family was still a defaulter on the repayment of loans to the National Bank of Pakistan, praying that detailed records on the acquittal of the Sharif family be sought.
