UNSC commends participation, courage of Afghan people in election

The UN Security Council has commended the participation and courage of Afghan people for their participation in the election both as voters and candidates.
In a press statement, the members of the Security Council reiterated their continued support for the Afghan Government and people of Afghanistan in their efforts to develop sustainable democratic institutions.
In addition, they reiterated the role of national electoral institutions to ensure the integrity, neutrality and transparency of the electoral process.
The members also condemned actions of those who sought to disrupt the elections and emphasized that violence, or threat of violence in any form, was unacceptable.
