General Raheel Sharif awarded with Brazilian highest Military award "Order of Merit"
BRASILIA: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has been awarded with Brazil’s Coveted Award “Order of Merit” in a special ceremony in recognition of his leadership for successful fight against multiple threats, DG ISPR Lt-Gen Asim Bajwa said on Twitter. Bajwa Added that General Raheel is the first Asian to have been honored with this Award. A statement from the Brazilian government read, Order of merit has been given to General Sharif for displaying remarkable courage to deal with the menace of terrorism. Successfully leading the army in the face of multiple threats, giving hope to his nation against dismay and despondency and above all for his great efforts to promote peace and stability in the region. The Army Chief is currently on a three days tour to Brazil, Earlier, COAS meeting with Brazil Defence Minister; General Raheel discussed relations between the two countries and the common security challenges. Brazil government also appreciates Pak Army’s achievements against terrorism and appreciates Operation Zarb-e-Azab and said Pak Army is one of the greatest Army in the whole world.
