A new four party political alliance in making in Punjab

LAHORE: The four-party alliance, led by the PML-Q, has decided to launch efforts to bring all like-minded parties on a platform across the country to contest the general election.

A meeting of PML-Q, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) and Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) was held here on Thursday which was presided over by Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. SIC chief Sahibzada Hamid Raza, PAT secretary general Khurrum Nawaz Gandapur and MWM’s Nasir Abbas Sheerazi represented their parties.

The meeting decided that all the like-minded and patriotic forces would be brought together on one platform to contest the election.

“For this purposes, contacts in all the four provinces will be increased and a mass contact campaign will be launched,” Shujaat said. He said the caretaker prime minister and chief ministers should be neutral.

“It is the responsibility of the election commission to ensure holding of fair, transparent and impartial election so that its results are acceptable to all parties. Only a transparent election can pull the country out of crises,” he added.
