LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shaharyar Khan has announced that Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Cup will get under way today (Monday).
Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Khan said that the cricket board was determined to improve the standard of cricket at grass-root level.
“We are giving due importance to promoting cricket at school level. The PCB is going to provide Rs80 million for school cricket,” he said.
He said that the cricket board was also trying to educate players by giving scholarships to poor children.
Speaking on this occasion, PCB Executive Committee Chairman Najam Sethi said that young cricketers would come forward from school cricket.
“We are also planning to organize club cricket, in which 55, 000 players will compete,” Sethi added.
