Pakistan Army decides to give full assistance to ECP for fair polls

*RAWALPINDI - The army will assist the Election Commission in the polling exercise, Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor tweeted on Wednesday.*
According to him, the army reviewed the geo-strategic environment at the Corps Commanders Conference at GHQ. “Mandated assistance to ECP will be provided for free, fair & transparent conduct of GE-18,” he tweeted.
“This national duty [will] be performed with utmost responsibility and without losing any focus on defence and internal security challenges in hand,” COAS Gen Qamar Bajwa was quoted as saying.
The Election Commission had requested the army to deploy its personnel in and outside the polling stations to avoid any untoward situation during the election.
