IHC disqualifies Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif in Iqama case

ISLAMABAD:Islamabad High Court (IHC) has disqualified Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif under Article-62 (1)(f) of the Constitution and section 99(1)(f) of the Representation of Peoples Act, 1976.

Three member bench of the court headed by Justice Athar Minallah announced the reserved judgment in this afternoon.

The larger bench had reserved the verdict on 10th of this month.    

Petition against Khawaja Asif was filed by PTI's Usman Dar on the plea that he did not declare his Iqama in the nomination papers for general elections, 2013.  

The Court also ordered that a copy of judgment be sent to the Election Commission of Pakistan and Khawaja Asif be denotified as member of the National Assembly.
