Positive development for Pakistan on the IT exports front

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan has exported another batch of 1500 locally manufactured smartphones to United Arab Emirates (UAE). “It is heartening to see that within a short period of time, Pakistan has become a 4G smartphone exporter.

I would like to congratulate Airlink Communications in playing an integral role in this process and exporting their first batch of 1500 locally manufactured smartphones to UAE,” said Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood.

He further said that it’s a small beginning for the company but a significant milestone for Pakistan’s mobile phone industry. In August this year, Pakistan had become exporter of 4G smartphones by sending first-ever shipment tagged ‘Manufactured in Pakistan’ to the UAE.

The first consignment of 5,500 mobile sets of 4G smartphones manufactured by Inovi Telecom was exported to the UAE. It is pertinent to mention here that Advisor to prime minister on commerce, Abdul Razak Dawood had earlier stated that Pakistan could become a mobile set exporting country by January, 2022; however, local manufacturers have met the target six months ahead of the schedule set by Dawood.
