Pakistan has reaffirmed its continued support to the United Nations peacekeeping operations.
Speaking at U.N. Trusteeship council in New York, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Pakistan had maintained a strong and leading role at the United Nations in promoting the collective objectives of peace and security, development and human rights.
He said 0.2 million Pakistani peacekeepers had participated in UN peacekeeping missions around the world in past five decades.
The foreign minister said 146 Pakistani peacekeepers made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty,
The foreign minister said Pakistan peacekeepers including Women served U.N. Missions in 46 countries.
