Defiant Turkey rejects western proposal over Syria
ANKARA - Turkey says it will not tolerate any human rights violation in northeast Syria.
This was stated by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu while speaking at a joint news conference with his German counterpart Heiko Maas in Ankara on Saturday.
He said Turkey is providing humanitarian aid to civilians in the area but a German proposal for an international safe zone was unrealistic.
Turkey launched its cross-border offensive on 9th of October after U.S. President Donald Trump pulled out around 1,000 American troops who had been in the area to help their Kurdish Ally to combat Islamic State militants.
Earlier, Germany’s defense minister presented to NATO a proposal for a security zone on Turkish-Syrian border.
