Indian consulate in Afghanistan saved from disaster, claims NDS

KABUL: A plot to destroy the Indian consulte in Afghanistan has been foiled by the Afghanistan premier spy agency, National Directorate of Security (NDS).

There were already credible threats to the Indian consulates in Afghanistan; sourced close to the NDS revealed.

Afghan authorities have arrested two men who were planning to attack the Indian consulate in the city of Jalalabad and seized bomb-making equipment, the National Directorate for Security said on Wednesday.

The arrests come at a time of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan over Kashmir and after an attack on a police academy in the Pakistani city of Quetta this week in which around 60 people were killed.

Pakistan and India accuse each other for the proxy war in Kabul which has deteriorated the security scenario in the region.
