ECC meets to take multiple key decisions on economic front

ISLAMABAD - The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet is scheduled to meet here on Wednesday (March 27) to consider various proposals related to petroleum, maritime affairs, revenue and power divisions.
The committee, scheduled to be chaired Minister for Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs, Asad Umar, would consider gas demand projections on both short and long term basis besides discussing arrangement of additional 200 MMCFD of LNG from Qatar.
According to notification, the ECC would also be informed about the status of progress on new LNG terminal by Maritime Affairs Division besides considering proposals for supply of gas to Tall and surrounding areas of District Hangu.
Proposal for waiver of penal surcharge by revenue division is also scheduled to be considered by the committee, it added. The committee would also discuss an agenda of Commerce Division for establishment of Independent Insurance Regulator.
The ECC would also discuss the issue of authorizing Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) to sign the interim agreement regarding revised payments terms for generation on LNG by Altern Enrrgy Limited Kot Addu Power Company Limited and Public Sector GENCOs.
Extension of Interim Agreement signed with Fauji Kabirwala and Rousch Power Limited expiring on June 30, 2018 would also come up to discussion of the committee.
