UN urges to ensure empowerment of rural women

UNITED NATIONS:The United Nations has urged its Member States to ensure gender equality and empowerment of rural women and girls.
The UN Commission on the Status of Women at its meeting in New York also highlighted the urgency of empowering and supporting those who need it most and have been left behind.
Pakistan's delegation was led by Dr Shezra Mansab Ali, MNA, and included Neelum Khan, KPK CSW and Fawzia Vikar.
The meeting stressed for concrete measures to lift rural women and girls out of poverty and to ensure their rights.
These include ensuring their equal access to land and productive assets, enhancing their food security and nutrition, education and health.(APP)
