Energy sector circular again rise to dangerous level of Rs. 337 billions
ISLAMABAD: Khawaja Asif, federal minister for water and power said that energy sector circular debt has once again risen to dangerous level of Rs. 337.7 billion while total receivable amount stand at Rs. 657.3 billion.

 

While giving a written reply to the National Assembly, Khawaja Asif said that the receivable amount from Provincial governments stand at Rs. 104 billion while Rs. 60 billion and Rs. 32.5 billion arrears stand against AJK and KESC respectively.

 

Non-availability of required funds to pay the liabilities of power generators are the main cause to rise in circular debt of power sector. Asif added that he is taking effective measures for the speedy recovery of outstanding bills.

 

While giving the details of tariff for different categories he said that those who consume below than 50 units per month are charged at Rs. 2.00 per unit.

 

Those who consume from 1-100 units are being charged at Rs. 5.79 while government charge Rs. 8.11 per unit from those who consume 101 to 200 units in a month.
