Pakistan Youth Football team to participate in in Norway, China

KARACHI: (APP) Pakistan Street Children Football Team managed by Azad Foundation will participate in youth football tournaments in Norway and China.

The team will depart for Norway on Thursday July 28, from Jinnah International Airport Karachi.

Founder and CEO Azad Foundation Naveed Hasan Khan said this while talking to APP on Tuesday.

This tour is part of Azad Foundation's efforts to promote Pakistani Football and give opportunities to the neglected and marginalized street connected children, he said adding these children are deprived of their basic human rights.

Using Team Pakistan as a tool of advocacy and opportunities, Azad

Foundation's Sports for Development Programme has launched its prevention and advocacy activities throughout Pakistan and at present around 2000 children are engaged in this programme in 3 cities of the country.

Since 2014, a total of 35 boys have participated in international tournaments including Street Child Olympic Games were Azad Foundation squad finished 1st.

In near future, Azad Foundation is also establishing its female team.

Team Pakistan is managed by Azad Foundation, a registered non-profit organization working in Pakistan for the rights of street connected children since 2001.

The team is officially sponsored by HBL. This partnership includes sponsorship for international tournaments and month stipends for selected players. Other partners include Muslim Hands International and Alma Culture Center Norway.

Team Pakistan will start the campaign in Oslo with Norway Cup, World's Largest Youth Football Tournament on July 31, 2016.

This year 220 teams are participating in the Under 16 category of the tournament. Team Pakistan is in Group B14 with Tertens Soccers Men, Melhus IL 1 and Sykkylven IL.

The knockout round will begin from August 4th. Final of the tournament will be played on August 7th. From there, Team will fly to Shenyang, China to participate in Gothia Cup China.

Gothia Cup is one of the largest football tournaments held every year in Sweden.

This year the organizers are launching it in China as well.

Team Pakistan will play its first match on 14th August, Independence Day of Pakistan.

Opening ceremony and Final of this tournament will be held at Shenyang Olympic Stadium which has capacity of 60,000 people.

Team Pakistan consists of new and old players, who were part of the team on previous tours. 45 days camp of team was held in 2 phases in Ibrahim Hyderi and Malir.
