Russia praises Pakistan as important regional player

MOSCOW - Pakistan and Russia have agreed to continue efforts for supporting reconciliation under an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process.

The agreement was reached during a meeting between Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on Wednesday.

They discussed on various bilateral and regional issues including recent developments concerning Afghan peace process.

Acknowledging Pakistan's efforts in the Afghan settlement, Russian Foreign Minister offered Russia's support to bring stability in the region.

Foreign Minister Qureshi said Pakistan greatly values its relations with the Russian Federation and expressed Pakistan's desire to forge a long-term, multidimensional partnership and friendship with Russia.
