Opposition parties' conference decides to field a joint candidate for presidential election
The multi-party conference of the opposition has decided to announce its joint candidate for the office of President of Pakistan tomorrow.
This was announced by PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal at a joint news conference along with representatives of Pakistan People's Party, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal and Awami National Party after the meeting in Murree today.
The conference was hosted by PML-N and chaired by the party President Shahbaz Sharif.
Ahsan Iqbal said PPP representatives have sought time till tonight to consult with their top leadership.
He said all the opposition parties have supported the proposal for giving right to vote to overseas Pakistan, but the Election Commission has introduced a system to this effect in haste.
Speaking on the occasion, PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira said it was need of the time that the opposition parties remain united.
PTI has already nominated Arif Alvi for the slot of President.
