ISLAMABAD: Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Hussain Chaudhry offered the services of assistance and cooperation of Pakistan’s laboratories to Ukraine.
During his meeting with Ambassador of Ukraine to Pakistan Volodymyr Lakomov here, the minister apprised the envoy about the working and achievements of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
He also referred to Sri Lanka’s request for forensic assistance from Pakistan in the probe of the recent suicide attacks in Sri Lanka on the occasion of Easter that killed more than 250 people.
Fawad Hussain apprised the ambassador about his desire for adoption of schools by the technologically advanced countries to convert those schools into the state-of-the-art institutions. He sought Ukraine’s cooperation in this regard.
Moreover, the minister expressed his intention of organizing an international dialogue on Science and Technology for Third World and asked the envoy to nominate Ukrainian scientists and experts for participation in the dialogue.
The minister also sought the ambassador’s cooperation in bringing skiing companies in Pakistan and in holding skiing events in the country as it was blessed with ample skiing sites in its Northern region.
He also hailed Ukraine’s commendable role in sports and its achievements in Olympics.
On the occasion, the ambassador informed the minister about working with National University of Science and Technology (NUST) for promotion and development of technical education in Pakistan.
He pledged unequivocal support to Pakistan on behalf of the Government of Ukraine for consolidating and developing technical education in Pakistan on modern lines.
Lakomov said that his government had appointed Orlano, a Ukrainian activist, to enhance cooperation between both the governments in different sectors. In addition, both agreed to boost cooperation in defence as well as humanitarian sectors.
The ambassador expressed his desire to introduce Urdu language at the Ukrainian universities. In response to his liking for Urdu language, the minister extended his full support in this regard.
