KP Minister directs to ensure transparency in auction of mineral mines

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Mineral Development, Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli Wednesday said auction of all mineral places would be purely on merit and first-come-first get basis while those applications filed before the ban will be considered cancelled.
She expressed these views here while presiding over a high-level meeting and said that wherever illegal mining are continue will face stern action.
The issues related to posting and transfers of the employees in the Mineral Department also came under discussion in the meeting. The provincial minister directed the Secretary Minerals and Director General (DG) Minerals to fill the shortage of employees in regional offices on priority bases.
The provincial minister further said that the places where inspection teams have been dispatched will be replaced by new teams of local officers to conduct inspection and prepare working paper.
She directed the Assistant Directors (Ads) Minerals, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi and Charsadda to advertise the auction of mineral places as soon as possible to present them for lease.
She said that for the first time online system for filing applications has been introduced for ensuring transparency. Therefore, she said that only those applicants which have filed online applications will be included in the auction. (APP)
