PARIS, April 26, (APP): EU-US trade pact TTIP in doldrums.
The chances of reaching a US-EU free trade deal are "fading", France's minister of state for foreign trade said on Tuesday.
Asked about the likelihood of such an agreement being reached before the end of US President Barack Obama's term in January 2017, Matthias Fekl told France's RTL: "No, I don't think so. The likelihood, or risk, of reaching any accord is fading."
The Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) has run into major opposition in Europe, not least in Germany, where critics have raised the spectre of eroding ecological and labour market standards and condemned the secrecy shrouding the negotiations.
