Elections 2018 rigging: Government appoints the commission head

ISLAMABAD – The federal government has taken important decision over the issue of commission on election rigging.

Defence minister Pervez Khattak is tipped as head of the committee tasked to investigate rigging allegations in the 2018 general election.

The parliamentary committee will include five members from the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and one member each from MQM-Pakistan, Grand Democratic Alliance, PML-Q, Balochistan Awami Party, and BNP-Mengal.

The PTI members consist of Pervez Khattak, Shireen Mazari, Amir Dogar, Fawad Chauhdry and Ali Muhammad Khan. Other members include Amin ul Haq (MQM-P), Tariq Bashir Cheema (PML-Q), BNP chief Akhtar Mengal, and Khalid Maghsi (BAP). From GDA it will be either Gaux Bux Mehar or Fehmida Mirza.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party has also finalised four names to be included in the parliamentary committee. They are Ahsan Iqbal, Rana Tanveer, Rana Sanaullah and Murtaza Abbasi.
