Bad news for fans of Pakistani skipper Babar Azam

Pakistan's captain, Babar Azam, faces the risk of sliding down in the Men's ODI Player Rankings following the latest update on Wednesday. Babar's lead in the ODI Batting Rankings has dwindled to a mere six rating points, making India's Shubman Gill a leading contender to surpass him.

Despite Babar accumulating 157 runs from five innings in the Cricket World Cup, including a fighting 74 against Afghanistan in Chennai, his total rating points have dropped to 829, according to the ICC's official statement.

Shubman Gill, on the other hand, has notched up 95 runs in just three matches for India, elevating his rating points to 823, mainly due to his standout innings of 53 against Bangladesh in Pune.

The statement also mentions that South African batsman Quinton de Kock, in third place, is making significant progress in the ODI batting rankings with his impressive performances, including three centuries at the World Cup.

Additionally, South African teammate Heinrich Klaasen has climbed seven places to fourth in the rankings, achieving a new career-high rating. The experienced duo of Virat Kohli and David Warner shares fifth place, with Kohli moving up three spots and Warner improving by two spots, following their strong performances in India.

In the ODI bowlers rankings, Australia's pacer Josh Hazlewood remains at the top, but Indian speedster Mohammed Siraj has moved up one place to second and is among those challenging Hazlewood's position.

Siraj has taken six wickets from five appearances in the World Cup. South African spinner Keshav Maharaj has risen to third place with a new career-high rating after taking seven wickets in the tournament.

Afghanistan's Mohammad Nabi and Australia's Adam Zampa are also in the top 10, having climbed four places each to sixth and seventh, respectively.
