Domestic flights operations suspended across Pakistani Airports

Islamabad: The federal government has announced to suspend all domestic flight operations till April 2 amid coronavirus outbreak.

According to director transport, the government has taken this decision after consultation with all line operations.

The cargo flights will remain continue, while special flights will also be allowed to fly on special permission.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and private airlines have been informed about the decision.

Earlier, the PIA had suspended its international flight operations, saying the ban will continue from March 22 to 28.

The number of coronavirus cases has surged to 956 with Sindh worst affected province with 407 case. Punjab is at second position with 265 cases while KP has confirmed 78 cases.

There are 110 case in Balochistan, 15 cases in Islamabad and 81 cases in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan.

Earlier today, Pakistan Railways has suspended its operations countrywide till April 3.

As per notification released by ministry of railways, train operations will remain suspended for a week in view of rising Coronavirus cases in the country.

Passengers will either be allowed to refund or reuse their tickets once the operations resume, it said.
