LHC Chief Justice salary unveiled over information commission query

LAHORE: (APP) The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday released information regarding monthly salary of the LHC chief justice in response to the Punjab Information Commission's query.
According to a LHC press release issued here, LHC Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah draws Rs 1,050,538 as monthly salary. The salary included Rs 713,280 basic pay, Rs 269,525 judicial allowance and Rs 67,733 medical allowance.
Since the chief justice is residing in official residency, therefore, he did not draw Rs 65,000 monthly house rent, it added.
Meanwhile, on directions of the LHC chief justice, Deputy Registrar Shahbaz Ashraf had been appointed as Public Information Officer, under Punjab Transparency and Right to Information Act. The step was also communicated to the commission through a letter, it added.
It is pertinent to mention that as per media reports, the Punjab Information Commission had asked the LHC registrar to appoint public information officer that was necessary under the provision of the Information Act. The commission had further asked the registrar for providing details of the chief justice salary to a complainant who had approached the commission for the purpose.
