UN Security Council held meeting to discuss US and Iran deteriorating ties
WASHINGTON - United Nations Security Council in its meeting at New York has discussed the deteriorating relations between the United States and Iran .
The Security Council urged maximum restraint around Persian Gulf region as Iran and United States trade diplomatic blows.
Following the Security Council meeting, Iran’s Permanent Representative at UN Majid Takht Ravanchi said he had expressed willingness to take part in the meeting.
He deplored the US recent decision to impose more sanctions against Iran .
Majid Takht Ravanchi said that Iran wants neither war, nor an escalation of tension in the region.
